He didn’t say anything now to calm me or make me stop crying. ![]() I was probably getting snot all over him, but I didn’t care. I resisted slightly at first, not wanting the fuss, but then just gave up and buried my head into his chest. Dex watched me for a few seconds, then put both arms around my shoulders and gently pulled me into him. I began to sob and bawl, letting out everything from tonight, everything from last week and probably everything from the last twenty-two years. And my tears were exactly what he wanted. Yesterday I was too embarrassed to cry in front of Dex but now I didn’t care at all. ![]() I kept my eyes open and unblinking for as long as I could until they were so full of tears that I had to shut them. With the tears that started to rush to my eyes, I knew it was time to break down. It reminded me of the film Good Will Hunting when Robin Williams says “It’s not your fault” over and over again to Matt Damon until he snaps and breaks down. I assumed he wanted to further torment me, but he looked so.compassionate, such a 180 from two seconds ago, that I knew he was trying to make sure I was all right. ![]() ![]() “I had to.” I expected him to move away and give me some breathing room. ![]()

6/27/2023 0 Comments Warriors Box Set by Erin Hunter![]() ![]() ![]() Not to mention he's constantly distracted. Fireheart regularly let his emotions get the better of him, refusing to take into account his own biases. Then there were the moments of ridiculousness. I always found it odd the number of times that Fireheart made decisions of inaction, creating problems that would have been easily handled, at least a little bit, if he would just open his mouth. Truth be told, there were very few others.Ī Dangerous Path begins right with the annoying, namely that the upperhand is gained quite easily by Tigerstar and Fireheart finds himself shocked into silence. A surprising number of events happen throughout the course of this novel and ultimately I found myself alternating between two feelings: annoyance and sadness. It's also, at times, the most frustrating. You will have the warmth of fire to protect your Clan and the fierceness of fire to defend it.Įrin Hunter's A Dangerous Path is easily the most emotional of her original Warriors series. ![]() ![]() ![]() "Wicked and wry, this is a terrific story by one of my favorite writers, Stephen Graham Jones. Though I found its ending bittersweet, When Women Were Dragons is a striking novel that effortlessly captures the glow of childhood, the sting of adolescence, the bloom of first love, the reality of adulthood, the weight of societal expectations, and the crushing nature of responsibility. 6/26/2023 0 Comments Capital by Karl Marx![]() In preparation for his book, he studied the economic literature available in his time for a period of twelve years, mainly in the British Museum in London. ![]() By showing how capitalist development was the precursor of a new, socialist mode of production, he aimed to provide a scientific foundation for the modern labour movement. Marx said himself that his aim was “to bring a science by criticism to the point where it can be dialectically represented”, and in this way to “reveal the law of motion of modern society”. Marx’s aim in Capital, Volume I is to uncover and explain the laws specific to the capitalist mode of production and of the class struggles rooted in these capitalist social relations of production. There are dozens of novels and short stories to choose from, written under the names Robin Hobb and Megan Lindholm, but as a starting point it is difficult to look past Assassin’s Apprentice. To achieve this even while giving them silly names like Verity, Regal and The Fool is all the more impressive. ![]() GRRM, Pullman and *shudder* Rowling each deserve an honorable mention, but the outstanding candidate here is Robin Hobb, whose incredible Realm of the Elderlings books cycle through unforgettable characters that other fantasy authors can only dream of.
